Negative incidents are not normally encouraged to be publicized, but there is one that was of such great significance that it forever rippled across the history and themes of Pokemon Legends.
The May 13 "Day of Judgement", which is the term coined by the people of Pokemon Legends, was the last point in which the developers of PL took a backup of the game server before the game suffered a server hard drive failure and crashed on December 1, 2016. Between May and December, all data- including new registered accounts, pokemon caught, donations, storyline progress, updates- were completely lost and irrecoverable because no further backups of the game were done within those months.
As the one year anniversary approached, people began to inquire if anything will be done on this day. No events are planned for this because this isn't something to celebrate. The lessons learned however, should still be kept in our memory and thus there is a small map dedicated to the fate that befell not only those who joined after May 13, 2016 but all players of the game.
If you visit the Route 3 Secret Grotto, you can stumble upon a secret entrance to the Judgement Day Memorial. There are no wild Pokemon or events that transpire on it- it's simply there to exist as a permanent and significant piece of PL history.
So, what has happened since then?
The developers now take regular backups, at least once a month, to make sure such a terrible rollback will never happen again. They also take backups before anything is edited on a developer level.
Yes the legendary storyline is still not released yet, but it's almost done! A very large chunk of it was being rewritten to reflect the original spirit of the PL storyline, instead of being presented with the feeling of it being a grind fest tossed in as a time sink.
To those who stuck around from before the Day of Judgement last year, thank you!
