How to make a proper Auction

Post by ChilenoEnDinamarca » Sat Apr 29, 2017 3:24 am

Hello there and welcome!
Here is the Auction Guide as promised and I want to give my many thanks to the User Chirinos10 for cooperating with me to make this help I bring to all of you!
There might be some users that might not know or want to know how to Hold an Auction, so here we will look at 2 sections:

1.- Announcing Text for your Auction/Starting an Auction.
2.- Middle of the auction.
3.- Ending your Auction properly.

First of all you HAVE TO read the rules regarding in-chat auctions: Pokemon Legends Rules (Click here).

NOTE: Feb 25, 2018 an Auction page-system was added to Pokemon Legends which is pretty helpful if you want to avoid scammers/fake bids/acutions. You are welcome to read more about it, by Clicking here.

1.- Announcing Text for your Auction/Starting an Auction

What to do?
Now that we have acquired some knowledge about the rules, we can start to create an Announcement text and choosing the Pokemon you want to Auction. I'll show you how to make this Announcement text step by step.
NOTE: On the Announcement is highly recommended to have a link to that Pokemon you want to Auction, the duration-time and a starter Price.

How do I Link a Pokemon to the chat?
--To Link any Pokemon to the chat simply go to the chosen Pokemon's interface and Left-Click on the button ''Code''
Image
--After you click on the Code button it will change into ''Copied!''.
--Now you can paste it on the chat and it should look something like this: [mid]3224382[/mid]
NOTE: The link from above is to my Pokemon, each Pokemon has its own number.

Duration time
This will HAVE other users to know when the auction will end, timer is normally set to 1-2 minutes.

Initial Price
Normally here you can put the starter price you think is properly to start an auction which might get other users attracted.

How do I start my Auction?
Now that we now about how to link a Pokemon, the Duration-time and the Initial Price, we will have to make the ''Announcement text'' (Remember that only 1 Auction should be held at the time). Putting those 3 things together will make a decent Announce to Auction any Pokemon.

Example:
a)Auction [mid]3224382[/mid]

If you want to make your auction more Attractive you can Text it as the following example:
b)Auction Timid Blastoise lvl 100 Fully EV trained, decent IVs [mid]3224382[/mid]

Now we have completed our Announcement-text, and we have to copy&paste it on the TRADE chat, and then add the Time and the Initial Price.
(Do not copy paste the time and the Price along with the announce due both price and time changes continuously they always change or you might lose your announce text!)

A finished Announcement-text should look Like this

Image

2.- Middle of the auction.

This is the part where the time you added is running out until your auction ends, and where users should be making bids if there are some bidders. If there are no bidders you can cancel your Auction by saying ''Cancel Auction'' at any time as soon there is no bidder.

What to do?
If a user bid on your Pokemon being auctioned, you should inform other users on the trade chat about the changes (time and Price)
Each time a new bid appear (on the trade-chat, bids from Pms are deq'ed ) you just press Ctrl+v and write the time left and the new bid, for example:

a)Auction [mid]3224382[/mid] 1:40 sec left 666c

If a new bid Appear upgrade it again

b)Auction [mid]3224382[/mid] 30 sec left 2000K

NOTE: Do not do this too often or the system may auto-chat-ban you due spam/flooding chat.

3.- Ending your Auction properly.

Here is where your auction is about to end and where an user's bid wins among the others. Obviously is the higher bid the winner.
NOTE 1: If your Auction is a 2 minutes, Respect the time or you might get Chat-banned!!.
NOTE 2: The following rates/prices, timer, and Poke-links are fictitious.

What I personally do, is:

1.-To announce:
  • Auction [mid]3224382[/mid] 30 sec left 2000K
2.-Then 5-7 seconds after I do announce, we post the ''Going1'' (G1), removing the time and adding the ''g1'' At the beginning of text:
  • g1 Auction [mid]3224382[/mid] 2000K
3.-When 5-7 more seconds passed, I do announce the ''Going2'' (G2), and we do exactly the same as the ''g1'':
    • g2 Auction [mid]3224382[/mid] 2000K
Now you just have to say ''Sold'' (with out user names/bids) BEFORE the time runs out.
NOTE: It is OK if you give an end to your Auction a few seconds before the time fully runs out.

    Why just ''Sold''?`
This might save you a lot of time and making a safer Auction, specially when there are too many bids

Who won if there are multiple and similar bids?
If there where 3-4 users that bid 2000k, the winner will be the user that posted the 2000k before the other 3, but remember to have a good look at the bids due maybe a User bid 2001k.

Thats All, This guide Should help you Auction without getting you banned.

    Good Luck everyone!!

    Hola y bienvenidos!

    Ejemplo:
    a)Auction [mid]3224382[/mid]

b)Auction Timid Blastoise lvl 100 Fully EV trained, decent IVs [mid]3224382[/mid]

    a)Auction [mid]3224382[/mid] 1:40 sec left 666c

    b)Auction [mid]3224382[/mid] 30 sec left 2000K

NOTA 2 : Los siguentes precios, tiempo, y Poke-links son ficticios.

Lo que yo personalmente hago, es:

    1.-Anunciar:
    • Auction [mid]3224382[/mid] 30 sec left 2000K

    May I suggest that at
    10s left: g1 call
    5s left: g2 call
    0s left: sold

There should not be a "annnnnnnnnnnd" buffer between g2 and sold. In the case where one wants to use the "Annnnnnnnnnnd" buffer,
    15s left: g1 call
    10s left: g2 call
    5s left: andddddddd
    0s left: sold

1 tip for auctioneers is to look at the clock instead of the chat during g1 - sold calls. This will make bidding more fun for snipers while being fair and just to your bidders.

I was about to say that too.. but have In mind that this is a guide for beginners... So they do not make any fail leading them to a chat ban...
When there are too many snippers the trade chat gets a bit laggy...
Another thing: if you messed up your auction/got connection problems, you will have time enough to refresh and get back to the trade chat in time...
Another thing: this was not made to have/make a fun auction, Just to not get banned and how to auction.

That suggestion is fine tho... But consider to be a bit more experienced, so you guys do not get any troubles with bans.

Thank you for adding it! Appreciate!

Ps: I do personally use that method and time as you mentioned it.
