Dictionary of PL

Post by Atomous » Sun Aug 19, 2018 5:07 pm

Hello everyone,

As you know, like other game communities, Pokemon Legends has some unique terms and abbreviations. Beside, players come from various nations with different cultures, so it is hard for new players to understand some special words in chat at the beginning.

Therefore, I make a shortlist of definitions of common words in chat in order to help players understand conversations clearly:

+1 or 2 starter/inter/advance/expert: A situation when each tournament misses a number of minimum players to start battles.

Ancient player: A player who plays over 1000 days.

Ban evasion
: A situation, when a player got chat or account banned in one of his or her account but he or she uses other accounts in general for other purposes, which is against the rules.

EV: Effort values, stats which can be adjusted through battling with wild pokes or using eevee candy (for increase) or using EV reducer (for decrease). You can find the location for EV training here: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=622

FD: Friend Donation, a situation when another player spends real money to buy Premium status or tokens for your account. In return, you pay them by game coins. Here is the guide for how to do FD legally viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2640

Judgement Day: Friday May 13th, 2016, the day when the database of the game started over again after being wiped out through rollback. viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8350

IV: Individual values, basic stats are given to a single pokemon from the beginning and could not be changed.

IRC: Kiwi Internet Relay Chat, where players can log in and speak when the chat server has problem or the players got chat banned.

K: A popular term to indicate a thousand in quantity. For example: 1k= 1000, 20k= 20000.

Non map pokes: A term describes pokemon which are unavailable in maps or token shops. List of current non map pokes in game viewtopic.php?f=19&t=7964

NFS: Not for sale.

Old player: A player who plays over 500 days.

OP: Overpowered, a term is used to describe a strong pokemon through its nature, ability, or IVs. Here is a guide to show how to evaluate an OP poke viewtopic.php?f=19&t=13183

PM: Personal messages, a pop up window under the screen where two players can talk in private with each other.

PVP: Player versus Player.

Slowpoke: A game in Sandmarsh town where players stay in a room of full slowpokes and earn rewards through attracting them.

RBC: Rebirth Crystal, an special item uses for renew nature, ability, and IVs of a legendary pokemon.

Refresh: A situation when a player needs to reload his or her browsers because of lag or bugs.

Rock game: A game in the map A1 in Sunrock Desert where players gamble with the rocks to receive random rewards.

The Chronicle: The diary records all milestones in the game which affect players viewtopic.php?f=8&t=9193.

The Curse of Pokemon Legends: The scientific explanation for symptoms which players can get from playing and how to avoid those symptoms viewtopic.php?f=8&t=11197.

Ban evasion also covers those evading account bans =)
Also extending on the WTB one, I've seen a lot of players just use "B>OP shiny" etc. and similar for WTS they use "S>"

Love the guide

Great guide!
Some suggestions: IRC term is not limited to Kiwi only. Any client can be used as long as the channel is pokemonlegends.
And term- nab/noob/nub/newb - One of the most commonly used terms ;)

Thank you. I will not put those words in the dictionary because they are quite offensive for some players.

Ban evasion includes using any other account to play the game in general. This does not only mean to chat, since they could be using their other accounts to breed or participate in tournaments, which is prevented with a chat ban.

Thank you for your clear explanation. At first, I thought when a player got an account or IP permanent ban, he or she cannot play at all. Now, I recognize that no barrier can stop addictive players to come back to play.

If a player receives an account ban, whether or not they are allowed to create a new account to continue playing depends on the reason for their ban. On one hand, if players create an account with an inappropriate username and thus that account is banned, they are able to create another account (with an appropriate username) to continue playing. On the other hand, if players scam, then they are no longer welcome to create another account to play. if they continue to create accounts against our permission, this will result in an IP ban or as many bans as it takes to prevent them from re-joining the game. If any cases fall in between these two examples and the answer is not clear as to whether they are allowed to create another account or not, then the best action is to make a topic in the Appeals section of the forums to ask.
