Water Guardian and Magikarp

Okay, so apparently I've reached the part of Pokemon legends when I need an originally owned Magikarp to awake this Water Guardian thingy. It is telling me to enable it into my quest thing and to not put it into my team. Can anyone tell me where to find the Magikarp that I need to find, how to get it, and what exactly what I have to do from there? I'd really appreciate it.

You can catch magikarp from the route 4 pond

They are in the water of route 4

Okay, that doesn't help much seeing that I've got a Magikarp already. What now?

You have to go the Magikarp's page and click the "Quests" button and enable it for quests.
